The Birth of Shine Happy (updated)

3 years ago I was just a normal mother of 4 children.  Nothing very unusual.  And then out of the blue, my youngest child (2 years old at the time) was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes, and then Celiac Disease a year later.  It felt as though I had been sucked into a tidal wave and couldn't determine right from left or up from down.  Nearly everything changed, including my future and my daughter's future.  As time has gone by, we've adjusted beautifully, and believe it or not, I am so very grateful for the opportunities that I have been given to grow and learn.  Hard things don't have to be all bad.  There is so much beauty that can come from overcoming difficult circumstances.

Over the past year or so, I've realized that my little one will be heading off to kindergarten very soon.  There's an element of joy in the realization that we've made it this far, but there's also hesitation and anxiety.  Sending a chronically ill child off to school will present us with some new challenges.  For the next several years, I will need to be close to her school, ready to take over at a moment's notice.  As she grows, she'll be able to care for herself more, but it's going to take time (and manual dexterity).  I've considered my options and I feel that working from home is going to be the safest, most reasonable thing to do.  I have a passion for health and wellness and a weird ability to create bath and body products.  SO...I decided to combine those two things and the next thing I knew, Shine Happy was born.

With the encouragement of friends and family, I've decided to venture into the inter-webs and offer my creations to the world.  I use the highest quality, most nourishing ingredients available and every single product is handmade by me.  I love doing what I do and I believe that it shows in the quality of my products.  Oh, and I have the coolest soaping goggles evah.

Not long after I got started with this new business venture, I somehow talked one of my childhood friends into joining me.  I've known her for as long as I've been alive (no kidding) and I KNEW she'd be the perfect person to have on board as a business partner.  Our story is long.  37 years long to be exact.  At some point, I intend to add to this introduction, but until then, this is my partner.  Her name is Mckelle.  I call her Kell.  She's one of my favorite people on the planet.
